Has COVID-19 or Work from Home changed eating habits or lifestyle?

Lockdown and work from home are considered a new normal. As on one hand, we all trying hard to adapt to the changes caused due to pandemic, on the other hand, we all facing issues such as increased a sort of fear, stress that panic in the local minds. Hence, the COVID era is recorded as one of the main reasons for giving rise to unemployment and enhancing depression among the mid-aged guys.

Moreover, people due to lockdown have become more prone to unhealthy eating habits and cultures with odd timing munching, odd sleeping patterns, erratic workout regimes, and lot more on the list. Many of us might have faced lockdown problems either found heavy deduction in salaries or lost jobs due to pandemic or overburden with household chores with no school for toddlers and work from home making out no self-time and what not. Some might have lost appetite or bad eating habits and some might have put on weight. Thus, making us more vulnerable to depression.

Even after seeing so much in the first half of the year, we just wish not to see anything freaking anymore. So, the only way to keep yourself at a peace is to fuel yourself with the healthy stuff. Keep a close eye on what you are eating, how much indulged you are in any form of physical activity, how much meditation you are doing, and how are you keeping yourself healthy.

While taking an online session I came across many incidences people uttering, I am eating rubbish during the lockdown, I can’t stop eating in lockdown, I am eating more in lockdown and some even claim that due to stress and depression they are not eating in lockdown and bla bla bla…

So, here I have a solution to eating habits in lockdown. Monitoring over self is not an easy task, and doing this in lockdown seems like a punishment. To foster cheat meals, keep one day per week till lockdown and raise it to a fortnight. It is one of the most tedious works of all time. Being a Health Coach and a Diet Counsellor, here I am sharing some of the undervalued and overlooked guidelines. The instruction goes as follows:

1. Do not overindulge in unhealthy snacks like deep-fried foods.
2. Control your portion of sweets or desserts.
3. An intake of fruits is a must. Add up to two fruits a day.
4. Each meal is important. So, stick to the timings accordingly.
5. Try not to disturb the inner clock.
6. Do not skip any meal.
7. Skipping meals may lead to binge on larger portions, later on, Watch it.
8. King size meal is still breakfasting ONLY.
9. Vegetables are equally important. Binge on the seasonal ones.
10. Summer leads to dehydration, thus, add water-based foods like cucumber, melons, etc.
11. Focus on whole grains instead of refined ones.
12. Small and frequent meals can save you.
13. The more colorful the plate is, the more immunity you will build.
14. Overeating is a bad idea.
15. Eat with the family, it will increase the sense of SATISFACTION.
16. Portion size should be small.
17. Use stairs instead of lifts or elevators.
18. Spend time with your family and friends.
19. Do not neglect physical activities.
20. Quit smoking.
21. Quit alcohol.

Gathering all positive vibes is the ultimate way of keeping fit and fat. Quitting the unhealthy habit is the treatment for a healthy being. Incorporation of healthy lifestyle tips and modifications in old unhealthy habits is the key mantra to a successful journey of healthy “YOU” via eating wisely during the lockdown.

I hope these recommendations will play a pivotal role in bidding a holistic lifestyle even when we all are locked up in lockdown.
