Audio video remotes are handheld devices used to control audio and video equipment such as TVs, stereos, DVD players, Set-Top Box, Android TV Box, Google TV and streaming devices. They use infrared (IR) signals or radio frequency (RF) signals to communicate with the equipment and send commands to adjust settings or play, pause, or skip media. Some remotes can also control multiple devices and are called universal remotes
